The care of Western Redcedar is the same as the care for Teak

Caring for Teak Furniture to keep it looking its very best is easy.   It only needs a touch-up every few years, when the original finish is applied correctly.

 Apply Spar Varnish following the instructions under Finishing.  If any mold or mildew forms on any part of the furniture, clean the furniture with water with a small amount of household bleach added.

Teak Oil and Danish Oil are not the best products for finishing Teak outdoor furniture.  Using these finishes will require cleaning and reoilling several times a year, depending on the weather conditions in your area.

Finishing with Spar Varnish provides a much more durable, but flexible, finish.
